This Side of Uncertainty is an installation exploring sensibilities around mourning and melancholia through sculptural form. It is inspired by the dank and evocative character of the crypt beneath the Chiesa de Santa Maria del Orazione e Morte (the Church of St. Maria of Prayer and Death), in Rome. Part crypt, part shrine, part overlooked enclave, This Side of Uncertainty also plays on physical space mirroring psychological space and where elements such as the kitsch and banal are integral to perceiving an uncanny, inverted world.
